Fight for Glory, TDS Member Practice Debate

Practice Makes perfect. Monday, July 13th 2015 at CV Sumadikara Office, Kampung Depok was the first debating practice of TDS members. It was the first day of us practicing debate using British Parliamentary System. 

The practice was followed by the member of TDS who will join the tournament in August and who just train the speaking and argumentative skill. It was followed by 7 members consisting of Anggiawan Nugraha (The English Teacher of SMAN 5 TSM) as the head of TDS, Rahmat Abdul Kharisma (The Student of Math/Management Department-Unsil) as the secretary of TDS, Ratna R Na'im (The teacher from SMA RUT Condong) as the member, Indrian Maulida (The Student of LP3I) as the member, M. Lutfi Hanan (The student of SMAN 4 Tasikmalaya) as the member, Agni Aulia (The student of MA Persis Cempaka Warna) as the member and Anom Gilang Pamungkas (The student of SMAN 4 Tasikmalaya) as the member. All of the members were very enthusiastic following this practice.

In this practice, we debated the motion "THBT Gay is not mental disorder). The members are divided into 4 teams consisting of Opening Government, Opening Opposition, Closing Government and Closing Opposition. All teams have tried to prove the better argument. It was started from that Gay is a genetics factor and gay does not need to be cured as what the Opening Government stated and the Opening Opposition attacked that Gay is caused by the environmental factor, it is a choice and it can not be cured. The Closing bench from both teams have tried to give the extension based on the each position.

This practice has given many good responses, such as one of the new member of TDS, Agni said on Whatsapp group, "Thanks for wonderful day today.. 😄", She felt that the practice is a wonderful moment for her. Then she said also that she will always learn and learn to be better.

Finally, this debating practice will not stop at that day. It will be continued after Lebaran day.

TDS, First Gathering and Breakfasting

The first gathering of TDS was done Yesterday on 11th of July 2015. It was a fun and amazing moment. We enjoy the moment when we introduced each other between the old member and the new member. It is because we are coming from different school, university and profession. We also enjoyed sharing our thought, doing some discussion until the time passed unconsciously. We discussed many things, such as Gay Marriage, The government system of many countries, the essence of the movie, the harmful of motorcycle gang, atheist and theist, religion, and etc. Yea, it was so great moment.

National Debate and Public Speaking Seminar 2015

National Debate and Public Speaking Seminar held in Hotel Taman Mangkubumi Indah on 14th of June 2015 was done. It was the great event in Tasikmalaya with the theme "Break the fear, show your confidence and speak the truth!". This seminar was followed by 130 participants from senior high school students, university students and the teachers. All participants were enthusiast joining this event. Their curiosity were so high to ask the questions to the speakers. The speakers were Mr. Puthut Susilo Akbar, S.Pd. from Kampoeng Inggris-Pare East Java and Luthfi Abdurrahman from ITB, he has got many champions fron many tournaments in international and national debate. He also is an employee of USA Embassy. Those speakers were very great in explaining the materials both public speaking and Debate.

This seminar was organized by Tasikmalaya Debating Society supported by Education Board Tasikmalaya, and sponsored by Waterboom Sukahaji, Kedai Oishi, CV Sumadikara, Nafiri FM,and Rumah Kue Melati Sari. NDPS 2015 was an amazing seminar that the motivation of the participants were boosted. Yea, every participants expect that this seminar will always be conducted every year.

Responding the participants expectation, this seminar will be conducted in many campuses around Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, Garut, Banjar, Sumedang and Pangandaran. So, wait for our coming i8n your campus.

What is TDS?

TDS stands for Tasikmalaya Debating Society. It is one of the community in Tasikmalaya focusing on facilitating the society in Tasikmalaya to speak in front of public and debate. Our goal is to boost the motivation of every society in speaking English and thinking critically. From being always fear to become being always confident.

Our members are from the students of junior high school, senior high school, university, the teachers and the professional workers.

This Community is established since the end of 2014. Although, it is still young, but we have held and joint many events. The events joint were: 1. TDS was invited to be a speaker and adjudicator of Siliwangi Workshop and Economy Debate Competition in 2015. 2. TDS was invited to become the adjudicators of EDSA's Debating Competition inter senior high school students in 2015. Then, the events conducted was NATIONAL DEBATE AND PUBLIC SPEAKING SEMINAR 2015. The speakers were Uphie Abdurrahman and Mr. Puthut.

We also always do the practice. It is held in many cafes. The most frequently cafe is Kedai Joglo Semar, they have accepted us to cooperate. We can share, we can speak English, we can give opinion and debate. Not only that, but also we can do the practice in Alun-alun Tasikmalaya.

No to mention, this community has been supported by EDUCATION BOARD IN TASIKMALAYA.
